   We create SPOOKY HAUNTED HOUSES!
We are learning about shapes in the beginning of the year.
This is a really fun and engaging project to help learn about all the 3D shapes.
We collected objects.

We brainstormed how we can build it.

This is it! the kids decided on every single placement!!!
They are so creative!!!!

Let the BLACK painting begin!

WOW! Look how great it looks all black!

Next, we started adding spooky items to our haunted house
(we got most of the items form the Dollar Store).

Last, add cobs webs!

We put some skeleton lights on it (from the dollar bin at Target)
and glow sticks.

The final assessment:
Bring kids back one at a time and see if they can name the shapes and/or point to the objects
(cylinder, sphere, cube, cone, rectangular prism)

We have mini-october conferences, so this was a fun way for parents to see our first project displayed.
Students were able to point to the objects and name the shapes.

At the end of October, we are learning about Community Helpers, so we learn about real-estate agents.
We put our haunted house up FOR SALE and create spooky brochures.

The Daily 5 Videos

These are some videos of my little sweeties doing the Daily 5.
It's still not perfect but they are definitely improving after 25-30 days!

Reading to Someone
These little guys did great! The kiddos got a little distracted with me videoing them
(since I'm usually not by them at all), but they still did so good!

Cuteness Tricks Freebie

Here are some of my "Cuteness Tricks" I use in Kinderworld!

FREEBIE ALERT! Click here to download the cuteness tricks.

Brain Sprinkles!
Sprinkle some brain booster on the kids while they take a
spelling test, work on the Daily 5 or a PBL project.
I got the container at Ross and the pom-poms at Michaels.

Quite Critters
These critters are in a lock tight container.
They are VERY shy and only come out when it is extremely quiet.
They like to sit with students who are working quietly at their seats.
I got the container at the Dollar Store

Quiet Spray
Spray a little quietness on students before a read aloud or mini lesson.
I got the spray bottle at the Dollar Store.

Fairy Dust!
I tell the kids I put a magic potion on them and they have to freeze and be very still,
like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. They think this is a VERY fun game and it works wonders

Drawing Unit

I love this idea from A Place Called Kindergarten.
During writer's workshop, kiddos always ask, "How do you draw a ...?"
It would be fun to teach students how to draw one new thing a day.

Here are mentor text for drawing...
