To get started, I wanted to share my 2016 New Years Creativity and Activities Unit on TPT!

My kiddos love technology and this is a fun way to get the New Year started!
This order includes an adorable New Year's CRAFTIVITY and WRITING ACTIVITIES.

You can use the writing templates for the craftivity and create a booklet or just use one paper.

The writing templates are on I-PADS and I-PODS. So cute!

(the i-pods come in different sizes for the optional craft project: holding the i-pod in hand)
-6 templates on i-pads
"Game On in 2016" and "Tweeting in the New Year!"
2 of the papers give the students an opportunity to write New Year's Goals

ABC Practice Pages

When does school start for you??? I go back in 2 weeks! For the first month in Kinderworld, we do a quick review of all  the letters A-Z. When I start the Daily 5, we focus on 1-2 letters a week.
For Word Work during The Daily 5, I use the following 2 Packs:
1. My ABC Handout Book
2. ABC Practice Pages.

Both Packs can be used in several ways:

1.Use a page a day as morning work.

2.Create a journal and use it during small group instruction.

3.use the pages/journal during the DAILY 5 for Word Work.

4.Use the pages/journal as a literacy center.

5.Use it as ABC review in the beginning of the school year.

See examples below:

Enjoy the last couple weeks of summer!!

Bulletin Boards

I have seen so many cute BULLETIN BOARDS! I must admit, as much as I love them, I have a really hard time finding time to change them weekly or monthly.
A veteran teacher gave me the best advise when I first started teaching..."Work Smarter Not Harder."
So as much as I love creating adorable bulletin boards, I have saved time with simple ones.
In the beginning of the year, I created a giant area with fadeless blue paper and western border to match the Western theme in my room. I decided I would keep this paper up all year (again to save time) and just change the class work. Below are some of the bulletin boards I created in my class this year.

For the first week of school (August), I simply put up a Western WELCOME banner and poster.
This banner is in my Western Theme Pack on TPT HERE.

This is not the best photo but we learned about school rules and made "NO David" art (September).
We created a poster together of the school rules and put this up with the art.

While learning about shapes, we created Shape Monsters (October).
I put the Glyph Data we collected on the board too.
We also learned about our names and created rainbow name art.

For the 50th Day of School, we created 50th Day "greasers" and "poodle skirt girls" (November).
I put the poster with data we created together "Can You Blow A Bubble?" up as well as our
class book "Our 50th Day Lego Book".

I forget to take a picture of my December board. We learned about Holidays Around the World and made adorable reindeers flying around the world. Next year I will remember to take a picture.

For New Years, we created adorable "Selfies" holding a giant i-Pod (January).
"Game On! We will play our BEST in 2015"

I love this project!
We did a directed drawing of Martin Luther King with "I have a dream" writing with it (January).
The poster is a picture of MLK with all the facts we learned about him while reading and researching about his life.

For the 100th Day, we created Grannie and Grandpa's..."What we will look like when we are 100 years old" (February). The portrait idea is from Deanna Jump's 100th Day unit on TPT.
We also created a class book "Look What We Can Build with 100th Legos."
We put 100 sprinkles on a cupcake, 100 toppings in a pizza and 100 gum-balls in a gum-ball machine.

For Valentine's Day, we created Splat The Cat art from the book "Love, Splat" (February).
I forgot to take a picture but this was the art I put on the bulletin board.

While researching animals, the kids worked in groups to create posters about a specific animals (March). I simply put the posters on the bulletin board.

For Saint Patrick's Day, we made these lucky little Leprechauns (March). Again, I forgot to take a picture, but this was the art project that was used.

In April, we learned all about plants. These adorable flowers actually flip up and have plant facts underneath. Open House was in April at our school, so this was a perfect bulletin board...
"Come See How Much We've Grown!"

In May, we learned all about opinions and facts. I got this AMAZING and cute idea from
Oceans of First Grade Fun HERE.
She actually has these printables for FREE on her blog too!!!
I made the images of the animals on the poster.

How to Safely Share YouTube Videos with SafeShare

I am so excited there is a way to safely show YouTube videos in my class without without worrying about the ads and inappropriate content that may pop up in the beginning!!!

SafeShare is a website that takes YouTube videos and gets rid of almost ALL of the advertisements and inappropriate content around the main video. Safeshare even removes the ads that are often showed before popular videos.  All you do is copy the YouTube link and paste it into Safeshare.tv (see image below). Then you are given a new link to use instead of the YouTube link.
Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy!

Below is a tutorial on how to convert a YouTube video into a Safeshare video.
It's so EASY!
